Uttar Pradesh Govt Hospitals See 16% Rise in Patient Visits

Government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh report a 16% increase in footfall, reflecting growing public confidence in state healthcare services.
Government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh have experienced a significant 16% increase in patient footfall, according to the latest data released by the state's Hospital Information System (HIS) for the 2025-26 fiscal year. The report highlights a marked rise in both outpatient department (OPD) visits and inpatient admissions, indicating enhanced public trust in government healthcare services.
Record Increase in Hospital Visits
Data from the HIS report reveals that OPD visits climbed to 26.21 crore in 2025-26, an increase from 23.26 crore in the previous year. This surge represents an addition of approximately 2.95 crore visits. Inpatient admissions also saw a substantial rise, growing from 1.03 crore in 2024-25 to 1.23 crore in 2025-26, marking an increase of over 20 lakh admissions.
Government Prioritizes Healthcare Improvements
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak attributed the increase to the government's concerted efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality. “Providing high-quality healthcare services to the people is our government’s top priority. We are working to make government healthcare more accessible, efficient, modern, and patient-centric,” Pathak stated.
Pathak further explained that government hospitals have been upgraded with modern medical equipment, and capacity expansions have been made in critical areas such as dialysis, pathology, and radiology services. Improvements in ambulance services have also been implemented to ensure timely transportation of patients to healthcare facilities.
Focus on Infrastructure and Healthcare Schemes
The state government has been focusing on strengthening hospital infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number of patients. This includes the expansion of medical services and resources to ensure quality treatment is available promptly. Pathak emphasized the importance of ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of central and state healthcare schemes.
The increase in patient numbers is seen as a positive reflection of the government's ongoing initiatives to boost public healthcare infrastructure and delivery. These efforts align with the broader objective of building a more robust and patient-focused healthcare system in Uttar Pradesh.
