AI Summary

Docon Technologies has sold a 9.9% stake in Thyrocare Technologies for Rs 986 crore through NSE and BSE block and bulk deals.

In a significant transaction on Thursday, Docon Technologies, a major promoter of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd, offloaded a 9.9% stake in the diagnostics company for Rs 986 crore. The sale involved 1,57,69,696 equity shares, executed through both bulk and block deals on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Details of the Stake Sale

The transaction saw over 1.31 crore shares sold via block deals, while 10 lakh shares were exchanged through bulk deals on the NSE. Additionally, 16.01 lakh shares were traded through a bulk deal on the BSE. The shares were sold within a price range of Rs 624 to Rs 631.71 each, culminating in a total deal value of Rs 985.86 crore.

Following this divestment, Docon's stake in Thyrocare Technologies has decreased from 60.92% to 51.02%. This move marks another phase in Docon's gradual reduction of its holdings in the company, following a similar transaction last October where a 10% stake was sold for Rs 667 crore.

Institutional and Global Investor Participation

The sale attracted interest from various institutional investors and global entities. Prominent buyers included HSBC Mutual Fund, DSP Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, WhiteOak Capital Mutual Fund, and ITI Mutual Fund. Insurance firms like Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company and Tata AIA Life Insurance also participated, alongside international players such as Morgan Stanley, Citigroup Global Markets, HBM Healthcare Investments (Cayman), and the Kuwait Investment Authority.

Market Reaction and Share Performance

Following the announcement of the stake sale, Thyrocare Technologies' shares saw an uptick, closing nearly 3% higher at Rs 621.95 on the NSE and over 2% higher at Rs 622 on the BSE. The market response indicates investor confidence in the company's continued growth and stability despite the promoter's reduced stake.

While details of other participants in the bulk deals remain undisclosed, the presence of high-profile institutional investors suggests robust interest in Thyrocare's future prospects. The company's strategic positioning in the diagnostics sector continues to attract significant investment, even as its promoter adjusts its equity position.
