Docon Technologies divests a 9.9% stake in Thyrocare, raising Rs 986 crore through bulk and block deals.

In a notable financial maneuver, Docon Technologies, a key promoter of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd, has offloaded a 9.9% stake in the prominent diagnostics chain. The transaction, valued at Rs 986 crore, was executed through a series of bulk and block deals on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday.

Volume and Transaction Details

A total of 1,57,69,696 equity shares were sold, with more than 1.31 crore shares changing hands through block deals. An additional 10 lakh shares were traded via bulk deals on the NSE, complemented by 16.01 lakh shares on the BSE. The shares were priced between Rs 624 and Rs 631.71 each, culminating in a total transaction amount of Rs 985.86 crore.

Impact on Docon's Stake and Market Response

Following this significant sale, Docon Technologies' ownership in Thyrocare has decreased from 60.92% to 51.02%. The sale attracted a diverse group of buyers, including institutional investors, insurance companies, and global investment entities. Among the notable participants were HSBC Mutual Fund, DSP Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, WhiteOak Capital Mutual Fund, and ITI Mutual Fund. Additionally, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company and Tata AIA Life Insurance were involved, alongside international investors such as Morgan Stanley, Citigroup Global Markets, HBM Healthcare Investments, and the Kuwait Investment Authority.

In response to the transaction, Thyrocare Technologies' stock saw a positive uptick. On Friday, shares increased by nearly 3% to Rs 621.95 on the NSE and over 2% to Rs 622 on the BSE.

Historical Context and Market Dynamics

This recent divestment follows Docon's previous sale of a 10% stake in Thyrocare for Rs 667 crore in October of the preceding year. The consistent reduction in Docon's stake underscores an ongoing strategy to recalibrate its investment in the diagnostics sector, possibly to reallocate resources or diversify its portfolio.

The participation of a broad spectrum of investors highlights continued interest and confidence in Thyrocare's market position and growth potential. As one of India's leading diagnostics companies, Thyrocare holds a pivotal role in the healthcare sector, attracting substantial attention from both domestic and international investors.
