Ranchi Overhauls Hospital Revenue Utilization

Jharkhand has implemented a new policy allowing public hospitals to retain and use reimbursements received from Ayushman Bharat and state health schemes. Hospitals may now utilize 75% of these funds for operational needs and 25% for staff incentives. An alternative 85/15 split is permitted under certain conditions. The funds can be directed toward infrastructure improvements, procurement of diagnostics and medicines, and direct hiring of additional staff. Oversight will be conducted by district-level committees led by the Deputy Commissioner, while medical colleges will be monitored by specialized panels. Hospitals are expected to meet a benchmark of ₹50,000 in average monthly claims per bed within three years. These changes are aligned with Indian Public Health Standards and aim to promote autonomy, efficiency, and improved care standards.
