AI Summary

Molbio Diagnostics plans to raise ₹940 crore via IPO to boost capital and reduce promoter stake. The firm sees growth in its tuberculosis test kits.

Molbio Diagnostics, a leader in molecular diagnostics, is set to launch an Initial Public Offering (IPO) aiming to raise ₹940 crore. The company plans to secure ₹200 crore from a fresh issue for capital expenditure while generating ₹740 crore through an offer for sale. This move will see the promoter group's stake decrease from 46.6% to 43%.

Expanding Global Reach and Product Offerings

Founded in 2000, Molbio Diagnostics has built a strong presence across six manufacturing sites worldwide, serving over 90 countries. Its clientele includes government health programs, diagnostic labs, hospitals, and international healthcare organizations. The company's revenue is heavily reliant on its tuberculosis diagnostic test kits, which account for 70% of its test kit sales.

The firm has developed the 'Truenat' platform, a portable diagnostic system that provides rapid and accurate results, particularly beneficial in resource-limited settings. With 43 diagnostic assays, Molbio offers solutions for over 30 diseases and extends its services through subsidiaries and strategic partnerships.

Financial Performance and Market Position

Molbio's financials have shown robust growth, with a 31.5% annual increase in revenue, reaching ₹1,445.7 crore between FY24 and FY26. Net profit surged by 40.2% to ₹164.1 crore during the same period. The EBITDA rose by 33.2% to ₹328.2 crore, with margins improving from 22% in FY24 to 22.6% in FY26.

Despite its strong growth, Molbio faces a high customer concentration risk, with top clients contributing over half of its revenue. The company is targeting a price-earnings (P/E) multiple of up to 57, positioning itself against peers like Poly Medicure and Dr. Lal PathLabs, which trade at P/E multiples between 54 and 81.

Considerations for High-Risk Investors

For investors with a high-risk appetite, Molbio's IPO presents an opportunity to capitalize on its expanding market presence and innovative diagnostic solutions. However, potential investors should weigh the risks associated with customer concentration and the competitive landscape in the healthcare diagnostics sector.
