AI Summary

Molbio Diagnostics seeks to raise ₹940 crore via IPO, aiming to expand capital and reduce promoter stake.

Molbio Diagnostics Sets Ambitious IPO Goals

Molbio Diagnostics, a leader in molecular diagnostics, aims to raise ₹940 crore through an initial public offering (IPO). The company plans to use ₹200 crore from the fresh issue for capital expenditures, while an additional ₹740 crore will be generated through an offer for sale, resulting in a reduction of the promoter stake from 46.6% to 43%.

Expanding Global Reach and Product Portfolio

The company, established in 2000, operates six manufacturing facilities in India and serves over 90 countries. Its portfolio includes the 'Truenat' platform, a portable diagnostic system that offers rapid testing solutions for infectious and non-communicable diseases. Through its subsidiaries, Molbio also provides radiology, digital pathology, and breast health screening solutions.

Molbio's success largely hinges on its tuberculosis diagnostic test kits, which contribute significantly to its revenue. Approximately 74% of its revenue comes from test kit sales, with 70% of that derived from tuberculosis kits.

Financial Performance and Market Position

The company's financials reflect strong growth, with revenue from operations increasing by 31.5% annually to ₹1,445.7 crore and net profit rising by 40.2% annually to ₹164.1 crore between FY24 and FY26. EBITDA also saw a 33.2% increase to ₹328.2 crore, with margins improving to 22.6% in FY26.

Despite the absence of directly comparable listed peers in India, Molbio's valuation is competitive. The company seeks a price-earnings (P/E) multiple of up to 57, aligning with other healthcare diagnostics firms such as Poly Medicure and Dr. Lal PathLabs, which trade at P/E multiples between 54 and 81.

Investor Outlook

Molbio primarily serves government and international aid agencies, which account for over 80% of its revenue. This customer concentration poses both opportunities and risks for potential investors. However, the company's consistent financial growth and expanding global footprint may appeal to investors willing to embrace higher risks for potential long-term gains.
