Molbio Diagnostics' shares soared over 21% in their market debut, following strong demand in its IPO.

Shares of Molbio Diagnostics Ltd experienced a remarkable surge in their stock market debut, opening at a premium of over 21% against the issue price. The company's stock began trading at Rs 980 on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), significantly higher than its issue price of Rs 807. This initial leap was followed by an additional increase, with the stock reaching Rs 1,002.05, marking a 24.16% rise.

Strong IPO Demand Drives Market Performance

The impressive performance of Molbio Diagnostics on its first day of trading was largely driven by robust demand for its initial public offering (IPO), which was oversubscribed by 70.26 times on the final bidding day. The IPO, valued at Rs 940 crore, featured a price band ranging from Rs 768 to Rs 807 per share. The offering included a fresh issue of shares worth up to Rs 200 crore and an offer-for-sale (OFS) of up to 91.66 lakh equity shares by existing shareholders.

Strategic Allocation of IPO Proceeds

Molbio Diagnostics plans to strategically utilize the proceeds from the fresh issue to bolster its infrastructure and operational capabilities. Approximately Rs 106 crore is earmarked for capital expenditure to establish an R&D facility, a Centre of Excellence, and associated office spaces. Additionally, Rs 72 crore will be allocated for acquiring plant, machinery, and equipment for the company's facilities in Goa and Visakhapatnam. The remaining funds will support general corporate activities.

Innovative Diagnostic Solutions

Founded in 2000, Molbio Diagnostics has carved a niche in the point-of-care diagnostics sector with its molecular testing solutions for 30 diseases, including tuberculosis, COVID-19, HIV, HPV, and Hepatitis B and C. The company's flagship product, the 'Truenat' platform, offers a portable, battery-operated polymerase chain reaction (PCR) solution that enables rapid diagnosis in resource-limited settings. This platform is patented in over 100 countries, underscoring its global reach and impact.

The successful market debut and strategic use of IPO proceeds are expected to enhance Molbio Diagnostics' capacity to innovate and expand its diagnostic offerings, positioning the company for further growth in the healthcare sector.
