Molbio Diagnostics Ltd, a leading point-of-care diagnostics company, has announced a price band of Rs 768-807 per share for its upcoming Initial Public Offering (IPO), set to open on August 10. The IPO, which aims to raise between Rs 904 crore and Rs 940 crore, will close on August 12. The firm, backed by Temasek and Motilal Oswal Private Equity, has scheduled the anchor investor bidding to commence on August 7.
IPO Structure and Shareholder Divestment
The IPO comprises a fresh issue of shares amounting to Rs 200 crore, alongside an Offer For Sale (OFS) of up to 91.66 lakh equity shares from existing shareholders. Key stakeholders participating in the OFS include Exxora Trading LLP, Dr. Chandrasekhar Bhaskaran Nair, and India Business Excellence Fund III, among others.
At the upper price band, Molbio Diagnostics is projected to achieve a post-issue market capitalization of approximately Rs 9,300 crore. The allocation of the issue is divided as follows: 50% for qualified institutional buyers, 15% for non-institutional investors, and 35% for retail investors.
Utilization of IPO Proceeds
The fresh issue proceeds are earmarked for various strategic investments. Specifically, Rs 106 crore will be directed towards capital expenditure for establishing an R&D facility, a Centre of Excellence, and associated office space. An additional Rs 72 crore will be allocated for acquiring plant, machinery, and other equipment at the company's facilities in Goa and Visakhapatnam. Remaining funds will be used for general corporate purposes.
Company Background and Market Presence
Founded in 2000, Molbio Diagnostics specializes in point-of-care molecular testing for diseases such as tuberculosis, COVID-19, HIV, HPV, and Hepatitis B and C. Their flagship 'Truenat' platform, a portable PCR system, is patented in over 100 countries and enables rapid diagnosis in resource-constrained settings.
Molbio operates six manufacturing units across India, including two each in Goa and Bengaluru, and one each in Visakhapatnam and Pune. As of March 31, 2026, the company reported an installed capacity of 5,400 devices and 3.9 crore Truenat test kits annually. Financially, Molbio achieved a revenue of Rs 1,445 crore and a profit of Rs 164 crore in the fiscal year 2026.
The company's shares are slated for listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) on August 17. Kotak Mahindra Capital Company, IIFL Capital Services, Jefferies India, and Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors are serving as the book-running lead managers for the IPO.
