Molbio Diagnostics Reports Rs 52.7 Crore Profit in Q1 After IPO

Molbio Diagnostics posts Rs 52.7 crore profit in Q1, a turnaround from last year's loss, driven by Truenat test-kit sales.
Molbio Diagnostics, a recent entrant to the stock market, has reported a substantial profit of Rs 52.74 crore for the first quarter ending in June. This marks a significant turnaround from the Rs 23.94 crore loss recorded during the same period last year, according to the company's regulatory filing on Monday.
IPO and Financial Performance
The company's financial uplift follows its successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) in which it raised approximately Rs 940 crore. Molbio was officially listed on the stock exchange on August 17. In the first quarter of the current fiscal year, the company's total income surged to Rs 411.48 crore, a substantial increase from Rs 100.47 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
Truenat Test-Kit Drives Growth
The impressive financial results were largely attributed to the increased demand for Molbio's Truenat test-kits. The volume of these test-kits reached 62.4 lakh units, a stark rise from the 7.9 lakh units sold in the year-ago quarter. Truenat, known for its accuracy and speed in detecting infectious diseases at the point of care, has been a key product for the company.
Leadership Remarks
Sriram Natarajan, Executive Director and CEO of Molbio Diagnostics, highlighted the significance of FY27 as a milestone year for the company. "We have begun the year on a strong note, with healthy growth across both revenue and profitability in Q1," Natarajan stated, reflecting on the company's transition to a publicly-listed entity.
The positive financial results underscore Molbio's strategic growth efforts and its capacity to capitalize on market opportunities, particularly in the diagnostics sector.
