Molbio Diagnostics Reports Rs 52.7 Crore Profit in Q1 After IPO

Molbio Diagnostics sees a dramatic turnaround with a Rs 52.7 crore profit in Q1, driven by rising Truenat test-kit sales.
Molbio Diagnostics has reported a profit of Rs 52.74 crore for the first quarter ending June, marking a significant turnaround from a loss of Rs 23.94 crore in the same period last year. This positive financial outcome comes shortly after the company raised approximately Rs 940 crore through its Initial Public Offering (IPO) and was listed on the stock exchanges on August 17.
Surge in Truenat Test-Kit Sales
The company's impressive profit figures are largely attributed to the increased demand for its Truenat test-kits, which experienced a substantial rise in sales volume. According to Molbio, the volume of Truenat test-kits sold soared to 62.4 lakh units, a significant increase from the 7.9 lakh units sold in the previous year. Truenat is a diagnostic tool known for its ability to quickly and accurately detect a range of infectious diseases at the point of care.
The surge in test-kit sales also propelled Molbio's total income for the quarter to Rs 411.48 crore, a dramatic increase from Rs 100.47 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
CEO's Optimistic Outlook
Sriram Natarajan, Executive Director and CEO of Molbio Diagnostics, expressed optimism about the company's future, highlighting the milestone of becoming a listed entity. "FY27 is a milestone year for Molbio, marking our transition to a listed company," Natarajan stated. He emphasized the company's robust start to the fiscal year, noting the strong growth in both revenue and profitability during the first quarter.
This financial performance underscores Molbio's strategic focus on expanding its diagnostic capabilities and market reach. The company aims to continue leveraging its innovative products like Truenat to drive further growth in the competitive diagnostics industry.
