Molbio Diagnostics Reports Rs 52.7 Cr Profit in Q1 Amid IPO Success

Molbio Diagnostics posts Rs 52.74 crore profit in Q1, reversing last year's loss. Truenat test-kit sales boost revenue.
Molbio Diagnostics has reported a notable turnaround in its financial performance for the first quarter ending June, posting a profit of Rs 52.74 crore. This marks a significant reversal from the Rs 23.94 crore loss recorded in the same period last year, according to the company's recent regulatory filing.
Successful IPO and Revenue Surge
The improved financial results come on the heels of Molbio's successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) in August, which raised approximately Rs 940 crore. The company was officially listed on the stock exchanges on August 17, making this quarter its first as a publicly traded entity. Total income for the quarter soared to Rs 411.48 crore, a substantial increase from Rs 100.47 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
Truenat Test-Kit Demand Drives Growth
A key driver of this financial upswing has been the robust demand for Molbio’s Truenat test-kits. The company reported that volumes for these diagnostic kits surged to 62.4 lakh units, up dramatically from 7.90 lakh units in the year-ago period. Truenat, known for its ability to detect a wide range of infectious diseases with precision and speed, has become a crucial part of Molbio's product portfolio.
Leadership Comments
Sriram Natarajan, Executive Director & CEO of Molbio Diagnostics, expressed optimism about the company’s future, describing the fiscal year as a milestone. "FY27 is a milestone year for Molbio, marking our transition to a listed company... we have begun the year on a strong note, with healthy growth across both revenue and profitability in Q1," he stated.
This financial achievement not only underscores the company's growth potential but also highlights its strategic positioning in the diagnostics market, especially in the wake of its recent public offering.
