Molbio Diagnostics Reports Rs 52.7 Cr Profit in Q1 After IPO Success

Molbio Diagnostics posts Rs 52.74 crore profit in Q1 FY27, reversing last year's loss, spurred by strong Truenat test-kit sales.
Molbio Diagnostics has reported a robust turnaround, posting a profit of Rs 52.74 crore for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, a significant recovery from a Rs 23.94 crore loss in the same period last year. The New Delhi-based diagnostics firm, which was recently listed on the stock exchange on August 17 following a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) that raised approximately Rs 940 crore, attributes this positive outcome to the substantial increase in sales of its Truenat test-kits.
Significant Revenue Growth Driven by Truenat Test-Kits
The company's total income surged to Rs 411.48 crore in Q1 FY27, compared to Rs 100.47 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. This growth is largely driven by the increased demand for Truenat test-kits, which saw volumes reach 62.4 lakh units, a dramatic rise from just 7,90,000 units in the year-ago quarter. Truenat is a diagnostic tool designed for rapid detection of various infectious diseases at the point of care, which has evidently gained traction in the healthcare market.
Transition to a Listed Company
Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Molbio Diagnostics, Sriram Natarajan, expressed optimism about the company's financial health and growth trajectory in the wake of its transition to a publicly listed entity. "FY27 is a milestone year for Molbio, marking our transition to a listed company," Natarajan stated. "We have begun the year on a strong note, with healthy growth across both revenue and profitability in Q1," he added, highlighting the strategic importance of the IPO in bolstering the company's market position.
Future Outlook
With the successful listing and the demonstrated demand for its diagnostic products, Molbio Diagnostics is poised for continued expansion. The IPO proceeds are expected to further support the company's growth initiatives, including research and development and expansion into new markets. The positive financial results underscore Molbio's strong footing in the diagnostics industry, as it continues to innovate and cater to the growing healthcare needs.
