AI Summary

Molbio Diagnostics plans a ₹940 crore IPO, targeting capital expansion and reduced promoter stakes.

Molbio Diagnostics, a key player in the molecular diagnostics sector, is set to raise ₹940 crore through an initial public offering (IPO). The company plans to allocate ₹200 crore from the fresh issuance of shares towards capital expenditures, while ₹740 crore will be generated through an offer for sale, leading to a reduction in promoter stake from 46.6% to 43%.

Global Reach and Product Focus

With six manufacturing facilities across India, Molbio Diagnostics serves clients in over 90 countries, including government health programs and international healthcare organizations. The company's revenue growth has been notably driven by its tuberculosis diagnostic test kits, a significant product line that accounts for 70% of its test kit sales. The 'Truenat' platform, a portable diagnostic system, further supports its global outreach by providing rapid and accurate testing solutions in resource-limited settings.

Financial Performance and Market Position

Between FY24 and FY26, Molbio Diagnostics reported a 31.5% annual increase in revenue from operations, reaching ₹1,445.7 crore. Net profit also saw a substantial rise of 40.2% annually, amounting to ₹164.1 crore. The company's EBITDA grew by 33.2% to ₹328.2 crore, with margins improving from 22% in FY24 to 22.6% in FY26. On a year-over-year basis, FY26 saw a 41.7% revenue increase, a 27.9% rise in EBITDA, and an 18.4% growth in net profit.

Investment Considerations

Molbio Diagnostics is demanding a price-earnings (P/E) multiple of up to 57 post-IPO. Although it lacks directly comparable listed peers in India, the company's valuation is in line with other healthcare diagnostics and medical device firms like Poly Medicure, Dr. Lal PathLabs, and Metropolis Healthcare, which trade at P/E multiples ranging from 54 to 81.

The IPO presents an opportunity for high-risk investors seeking long-term growth in the diagnostics sector. With a strong global presence and innovative product offerings, Molbio Diagnostics is poised to leverage its technological capabilities and expand its market footprint.
