Molbio Diagnostics IPO Targets ₹940 Crore Amid Tuberculosis Test Kit Success

Molbio Diagnostics eyes ₹940 crore via IPO for expansion and reduced promoter stake, driven by TB test kit sales.
Molbio Diagnostics, a leader in molecular diagnostics, is set to launch an Initial Public Offering (IPO) aiming to raise ₹940 crore. The company plans to secure ₹200 crore through fresh issuance of shares intended for capital expenditures. Additionally, an offer for sale is expected to generate ₹740 crore, consequently reducing the promoter group's stake from 46.6% to 43%.
Expanding Global Footprint
Founded in 2000, Molbio Diagnostics has expanded its operations to six manufacturing facilities across India. The company exports its products to over 90 countries, catering to government health initiatives, diagnostic labs, hospitals, and international healthcare organizations. Notably, Molbio's revenue growth has been propelled by its tuberculosis diagnostic test kits, which account for a significant portion of its sales.
Financial Performance and Market Position
Between FY24 and FY26, Molbio's revenue from operations increased by 31.5% annually, reaching ₹1,445.7 crore. During the same period, net profit surged by 40.2% to ₹164.1 crore. The company's EBITDA rose by 33.2% to ₹328.2 crore, with an EBITDA margin that improved to 22.6% in FY26 from 22% in FY24. Revenue saw a year-on-year increase of 41.7% in FY26, while EBITDA and net profit grew by 27.9% and 18.4%, respectively.
Product Innovation and Revenue Streams
Molbio's product portfolio includes the 'Truenat' platform, a portable diagnostics system designed for rapid and accurate testing in resource-limited settings. The company offers molecular testing solutions for over 30 diseases through 43 diagnostic assays. A substantial 74% of Molbio's revenue comes from test kit sales, with tuberculosis diagnostic kits contributing 70% of this figure.
Valuation and Investor Considerations
Post-IPO, Molbio Diagnostics is anticipated to command a price-earnings (P/E) ratio of up to 57. This valuation falls within the range of other healthcare diagnostics and medical device companies in India, such as Poly Medicure, Dr. Lal PathLabs, and Metropolis Healthcare, which trade at P/E multiples between 54 and 81. With no directly comparable listed peers in India, Molbio's IPO presents a potential opportunity for high-risk investors seeking long-term growth.
