Molbio Diagnostics IPO Targets ₹200 Crore for Expansion

Molbio Diagnostics plans to raise ₹200 crore through an IPO, aiming to expand its manufacturing and reduce promoter stakes.
Molbio Diagnostics, a leader in molecular diagnostics, is set to launch an initial public offering (IPO) targeting ₹200 crore to bolster its capital expenditures. The company also intends to reduce promoter stake by raising an additional ₹740 crore through an offer for sale, decreasing the promoter group's stake from 46.6% to 43%.
Global Reach and Revenue Growth
Founded in 2000, Molbio Diagnostics operates six manufacturing facilities across India and serves over 90 countries. Its products, particularly tuberculosis diagnostic test kits, have fueled substantial revenue growth. In the fiscal years from 2024 to 2026, the company's revenue surged by 31.5% annually to reach ₹1,445.7 crore, while net profit increased by 40.2% to ₹164.1 crore. The company's Ebitda margin also rose to 22.6% in FY26.
Product Portfolio and Market Position
Molbio's innovative 'Truenat' platform offers portable diagnostic solutions for resource-limited settings, providing accurate results in under an hour. The company's product line includes over 43 diagnostic assays, addressing more than 30 diseases. Tuberculosis test kits account for a significant portion of its revenue, with government and international aid agencies contributing over 80% of its income.
Investment Considerations
The IPO could attract high-risk investors seeking long-term growth, given Molbio's robust financial performance and market expansion. Despite the absence of directly comparable listed peers in India, the company's P/E ratio of up to 57 positions it competitively alongside other healthcare diagnostics firms like Poly Medicure and Dr. Lal PathLabs, which trade at P/E multiples ranging from 54 to 81.
Molbio Diagnostics' IPO presents a strategic opportunity for investors looking to capitalize on the growing demand for diagnostic solutions, particularly in infectious diseases. As the company continues to expand its global footprint and diversify its product offerings, it positions itself as a key player in the healthcare diagnostics industry.
