Molbio Diagnostics IPO Targets ₹200 Crore for Expansion

Molbio Diagnostics plans to raise ₹200 crore and reduce promoter stake with its IPO, appealing to high-risk investors.
Molbio Diagnostics, a key player in the molecular diagnostics sector, is set to launch an Initial Public Offering (IPO) aiming to raise ₹200 crore. The funds are earmarked for bolstering the company's capital expenditures, a strategic move that signals its growth ambitions. Concurrently, the company plans to decrease its promoter group's stake from 46.6% to 43% through an offer for sale that seeks to generate ₹740 crore.
Global Reach and Revenue Growth
Founded in 2000, Molbio Diagnostics has rapidly expanded its operations, with six manufacturing facilities across India and a presence in over 90 countries. The company's products, particularly its tuberculosis diagnostic test kits, have driven substantial revenue growth. In recent years, Molbio's revenue from operations increased by 31.5% annually, reaching ₹1,445.7 crore, while its net profit surged by 40.2% to ₹164.1 crore between FY24 and FY26.
Molbio's customer base includes government health programs, diagnostic laboratories, hospitals, and international healthcare organizations, with a significant portion of its revenue—over four-fifths—coming from government and international aid agencies. Despite this, the company's customer concentration remains high, with its top clients contributing over half of its revenue.
Innovative Diagnostic Solutions
The company is known for its 'Truenat' platform, a portable diagnostic system designed for efficient testing in resource-limited settings. This platform can deliver accurate test results within an hour and offers molecular testing solutions for more than 30 diseases. Additionally, Molbio provides radiology, digital pathology, and breast health screening solutions through its subsidiaries and strategic collaborations.
A significant portion of the company's revenue—approximately 74%—comes from the sale of test kits, with 70% of this figure attributed to tuberculosis diagnostic test kits. This focus on innovative, rapid testing solutions has positioned Molbio as a leader in the diagnostics industry.
Financial Performance and Market Valuation
Molbio's financial performance has been robust, with its EBITDA rising 33.2% to ₹328.2 crore over the past two fiscal years, and its EBITDA margin improving from 22% in FY24 to 22.6% in FY26. On a year-on-year basis, the company's revenue jumped 41.7%, while net profit increased by 18.4% in FY26.
The IPO is expected to attract high-risk investors, with the company's post-IPO equity and FY26 net profit suggesting a P/E multiple of up to 57. Although Molbio lacks directly comparable listed peers in India, similar companies like Poly Medicure and Dr. Lal PathLabs trade at P/E multiples ranging from 54 to 81, indicating a competitive valuation.
