AI Summary

Molbio Diagnostics seeks ₹940 crore through IPO to boost growth and reduce promoter stake. High-risk investors may find long-term potential.

Molbio Diagnostics Sets Ambitious IPO Goals

Molbio Diagnostics, a prominent player in the molecular diagnostics industry, is set to launch an Initial Public Offering (IPO) aimed at raising ₹940 crore. The company plans to secure ₹200 crore through a fresh issue of shares to bolster its capital expenditure. Additionally, the firm intends to generate ₹740 crore via an offer for sale, which will reduce the promoter group's stake from 46.6% to 43%.

Global Reach and Revenue Drivers

With six manufacturing facilities across India, Molbio Diagnostics serves over 90 countries, catering to government health programs, diagnostic laboratories, hospitals, and international healthcare organizations. The company's revenue is heavily reliant on its tuberculosis diagnostic test kits, which account for 70% of its test kit sales. The 'Truenat' platform, a portable diagnostics system, has been pivotal in providing quick and accurate test results, especially in resource-limited settings.

The company's financial performance between FY24 and FY26 reflects a robust growth trajectory. Revenue from operations increased by 31.5% annually to ₹1,445.7 crore, while net profit surged by 40.2% to ₹164.1 crore. The EBITDA margin also saw an improvement, rising to 22.6% in FY26 from 22% in FY24.

Investment Risks and Considerations

Molbio's top clients contribute over half of its revenue, indicating a concentration risk that potential investors should consider. Additionally, the company's valuation demands a price-earnings (P/E) multiple of up to 57, which is comparable to other major players in the healthcare diagnostics sector such as Poly Medicure and Dr. Lal PathLabs, whose P/E multiples range between 54 and 81.

Investors with a high-risk appetite might find Molbio's IPO appealing, given its strong financial growth and strategic initiatives aimed at expanding its global footprint. However, they should weigh the risks associated with client concentration and market valuation before making investment decisions.
