AI Summary

Molbio Diagnostics is raising ₹200 crore for expansion and ₹740 crore via an IPO to reduce promoter stakes. The company sees growth in its TB test kits.

Molbio Diagnostics, a leader in molecular diagnostics, is gearing up to raise ₹200 crore through a fresh issuance of shares aimed at bolstering capital expenditures. Additionally, the company plans to generate ₹740 crore by offering shares for sale, a move that will reduce the promoter group's stake from 46.6% to 43% post-IPO.

Global Reach and Revenue Growth

With six manufacturing sites across India, Molbio Diagnostics serves a vast clientele in over 90 countries. The company has experienced significant growth, largely driven by its tuberculosis diagnostic test kits. These kits account for 70% of its diagnostic test kit sales, which in turn make up 74% of its total revenue.

Molbio's revenue from operations increased by 31.5% annually, reaching ₹1,445.7 crore between FY24 and FY26. During this period, the company's net profit also saw a 40.2% increase, climbing to ₹164.1 crore. The EBITDA grew by 33.2% to ₹328.2 crore, with the EBITDA margin improving slightly to 22.6% in FY26 from 22% in FY24.

Innovative Diagnostics Solutions

Founded in 2000, Molbio has made strides in developing diagnostic solutions for both infectious and non-communicable diseases. Its flagship product, the 'Truenat' platform, is a portable diagnostic system designed for use in resource-limited settings, providing accurate test results within an hour. The company offers molecular testing solutions for over 30 diseases through 43 diagnostic assays.

The company's clientele includes government health programs, diagnostic laboratories, hospitals, and international healthcare organizations. Notably, government and international aid agencies contribute over 80% of Molbio's revenue, indicating a strong dependence on institutional clients.

Valuation and Market Position

Post-IPO, Molbio Diagnostics is expected to have a price-earnings (P/E) multiple of up to 57, based on its net profit for FY26. While the company does not have a directly comparable listed peer in India, similar healthcare diagnostics and medical device companies, such as Poly Medicure and Dr. Lal PathLabs, trade at P/E multiples ranging from 54 to 81.

Molbio's strong revenue growth and innovative product offerings make it an attractive option for high-risk investors looking for long-term growth. However, the concentration of revenue from a limited number of clients could pose a risk that potential investors should consider.
