AI Summary

Molbio Diagnostics seeks to raise ₹200 crore for expansion, with a focus on its tuberculosis test kits and global reach.

Molbio Diagnostics, a leader in molecular diagnostics, is launching an IPO with the dual aim of raising funds for capital expenditures and reducing promoter stake. The company plans to generate ₹200 crore through a fresh issue of shares and an additional ₹740 crore via an offer for sale, which will decrease the promoter group's stake from 46.6% to 43%.

Global Reach and Revenue Drivers

Operating six manufacturing facilities across India, Molbio Diagnostics serves customers in over 90 countries. Its primary clientele includes government health programs, diagnostic labs, hospitals, and international healthcare organizations. With a significant portion of its revenue coming from tuberculosis diagnostic test kits, the company's 'Truenat' platform has become a crucial tool in resource-limited settings, offering rapid and accurate results.

Government and international aid agencies contribute over 80% of Molbio's revenue. The company offers molecular testing solutions for more than 30 diseases through 43 diagnostic assays. Additionally, it provides radiology, digital pathology, and breast health screening solutions via subsidiaries and strategic partnerships.

Financial Performance and Valuation

Financially, Molbio Diagnostics has shown robust growth. Between FY24 and FY26, its revenue from operations increased by 31.5% annually to ₹1,445.7 crore, while net profit surged by 40.2% to ₹164.1 crore. The company's EBITDA rose by 33.2% to ₹328.2 crore, with the EBITDA margin improving to 22.6% in FY26 from 22% in FY24. In FY26 alone, revenue grew by 41.7%, EBITDA by 27.9%, and net profit by 18.4% year-on-year.

Post-IPO, Molbio's price-earnings (P/E) ratio is projected to be up to 57, a figure that aligns with the valuation range of other notable healthcare diagnostics companies such as Poly Medicure, Dr. Lal PathLabs, Metropolis Healthcare, and Vijaya Diagnostic Centre, which trade at P/E multiples between 54 and 81.

Investor Considerations

While Molbio Diagnostics does not have a direct listed peer in India, its market performance and strategic focus on tuberculosis diagnostics and international expansion present a unique investment opportunity. The IPO may appeal to investors with a high-risk appetite looking for long-term growth potential in the healthcare diagnostics sector.
