Molbio Diagnostics Eyes ₹940 Crore Through IPO for Growth

Molbio Diagnostics plans a ₹940 crore IPO to boost capital and reduce promoter stake, targeting long-term growth.
Molbio Diagnostics, a prominent player in the molecular diagnostics sector, is set to launch an initial public offering (IPO) aiming to raise a total of ₹940 crore. This move includes a fresh issue worth ₹200 crore dedicated to capital expenditures and an additional ₹740 crore through an offer for sale, which will reduce the promoter group's stake from 46.6% to 43%.
Expansion Plans and Market Reach
The company operates six manufacturing facilities across India and supplies diagnostic solutions to over 90 countries. Its client base includes government health programs, diagnostic laboratories, hospitals, and international healthcare organizations. The company's product portfolio is bolstered by its 'Truenat' platform, a portable diagnostic system designed for quick and accurate testing in resource-limited settings. Molbio's offerings cover over 30 diseases through 43 diagnostic assays, with a significant focus on tuberculosis test kits, which account for a large portion of its revenue.
Financial Performance and Investor Appeal
Molbio reported a 31.5% annual increase in revenue, reaching ₹1,445.7 crore, with net profits climbing 40.2% to ₹164.1 crore between FY24 and FY26. Its EBITDA grew by 33.2% to ₹328.2 crore, with margins improving from 22% to 22.6% over the same period. The company's financial growth is primarily driven by its diagnostic test kits, contributing 74% of overall revenue, 70% of which comes from tuberculosis diagnostics.
Valuation and Market Position
The IPO values Molbio at a price-earnings (P/E) ratio of up to 57, aligning it with other major players in the healthcare diagnostics and medical device industry such as Poly Medicure, Dr. Lal PathLabs, Metropolis Healthcare, and Vijaya Diagnostic Centre, whose P/E ratios range from 54 to 81. Although Molbio lacks a directly comparable listed peer in India, its strong market presence and consistent financial growth make it an attractive option for investors with a high-risk appetite.
Founded in 2000, Molbio Diagnostics continues to expand its footprint in the global diagnostics market, with government and international aid agencies contributing over 80% of its revenue. Its strategic collaborations and innovative diagnostic solutions position the company for sustained growth, appealing to investors who are optimistic about its long-term potential.
