AI Summary

Molbio Diagnostics plans to raise ₹940 crore via IPO to fund capital projects and reduce promoter stake, targeting long-term growth.

Molbio Diagnostics, a prominent player in the molecular diagnostics sector, is set to launch an initial public offering (IPO) aiming to raise ₹940 crore. The company plans to allocate ₹200 crore from a fresh issue of shares towards capital expenditures, while an additional ₹740 crore will be generated through an offer for sale, reducing the promoter group's stake from 46.6% to 43%.

Global Reach and Revenue Sources

Founded in 2000, Molbio Diagnostics operates six manufacturing facilities in India and serves over 90 countries worldwide. Its clientele includes government health programs, diagnostic labs, hospitals, and international healthcare organizations. A significant portion of its revenue stems from its tuberculosis diagnostic test kits, developed as part of the 'Truenat' platform, which provides rapid and accurate results, particularly suited for resource-limited settings.

The company boasts a diverse product lineup, offering molecular testing solutions for over 30 diseases through 43 diagnostic assays. Additionally, it provides radiology, digital pathology, and breast health screening solutions via subsidiaries and strategic partnerships. Over 74% of its revenue is derived from the sale of test kits, with tuberculosis kits accounting for 70% of this figure.

Financial Performance and Valuation

Molbio Diagnostics has demonstrated robust financial growth, with revenue from operations increasing by 31.5% annually to ₹1,445.7 crore, and net profit rising by 40.2% to ₹164.1 crore between FY24 and FY26. The company's EBITDA grew by 33.2% to ₹328.2 crore, with margins improving to 22.6% in FY26 from 22% in FY24. On a year-on-year basis, FY26 saw a 41.7% boost in revenue, a 27.9% increase in EBITDA, and an 18.4% rise in net profit.

Post-IPO, Molbio Diagnostics is poised to command a price-earnings (P/E) multiple of up to 57, positioning it competitively against peers like Poly Medicure, Dr. Lal PathLabs, Metropolis Healthcare, and Vijaya Diagnostic Centre, whose P/E ratios range from 54 to 81.

Investor Considerations

The IPO presents a potential opportunity for high-risk investors seeking long-term growth, given Molbio's strategic expansion plans and solid financial track record. However, the concentration of revenue from a limited number of clients may be a point of consideration for potential investors.
