AI Summary

Molbio Diagnostics reports Rs 52.7 crore profit in Q1, reversing last year's loss, buoyed by Truenat test-kit sales.

Molbio Diagnostics, a recently listed player in the diagnostics sector, has announced a remarkable turnaround with a net profit of Rs 52.74 crore for the first quarter ending June 2026. This marks a significant improvement from a loss of Rs 23.94 crore recorded in the same period last year, according to the company's regulatory filing.

IPO Boosts Financial Stability

The company, which successfully raised approximately Rs 940 crore through an Initial Public Offering (IPO), was officially listed on the stock exchanges on August 17. This financial influx has evidently bolstered the company's performance, reflected in a substantial increase in its total income to Rs 411.48 crore for the quarter, up from Rs 100.47 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Surge in Truenat Test-Kit Sales

A key driver of this profit surge is the increased demand for Molbio's Truenat test kits. The company reported a dramatic increase in the volume of Truenat test-kit sales, rising to 62.4 lakh units from just 7.9 lakh units in the year-ago period. Truenat, known for its rapid and accurate point-of-care detection of various infectious diseases, has become a significant revenue generator for Molbio.

Leadership Commentary

Sriram Natarajan, Executive Director and CEO of Molbio Diagnostics, expressed optimism about the company's performance in the current fiscal year. "FY27 is a milestone year for Molbio, marking our transition to a listed company. We have begun the year on a strong note, with healthy growth across both revenue and profitability in Q1," Natarajan stated.

The company's focus on expanding its diagnostics capabilities and capitalizing on the demand for Truenat kits appears to be paying off, positioning Molbio for sustained growth in the competitive diagnostics market.
