Manipal Hospitals Eyes Expansion with AI-Driven Strategy
Manipal Hospitals is expanding in Andhra, Kerala, and Delhi-NCR, focusing on AI-driven healthcare innovations.
Manipal Health Enterprises Ltd is gearing up for a significant expansion across key Indian states, including Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and the Delhi-NCR region. The healthcare giant is actively pursuing acquisitions as part of its plan to build a robust 'physical plus digital' healthcare model powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Strategic Acquisitions and Infrastructure Projects
The company is considering strategic opportunities in Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh to strengthen its market presence. A cornerstone of its infrastructure development is a new greenfield project in Juhu, Mumbai, for which it has recently secured land and building rights for Rs 495 crore. A portion of this amount, Rs 130 crore, is contingent on certain conditions being met.
Beyond these regions, Manipal Hospitals is also exploring inorganic growth options in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa, along the Mumbai-Pune corridor, as well as in Eastern India, including West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Sikkim.
AI-Driven Healthcare Innovations
Manipal is investing heavily in technology, scaling a unified Hospital Information System (HIS) that integrates clinical, diagnostic, and administrative workflows. The company has launched AI-enabled nursing handovers in 24 hospitals and is advancing wireless patient monitoring systems. Additionally, it is implementing AI-driven chat, voice, and omnichannel assistants in its call centers to streamline triage inquiries and appointments.
"The next phase of Manipal Hospitals' journey will be defined not only by the capacity we add, but by how effectively we harness the collective strengths of our people, clinical expertise, technology platforms, and integrated network," said Dilip Jose, Managing Director and CEO.
Focus on Specialty Care and Financial Growth
Manipal's clinical strategy centers around 'CONGO-R', a cluster of specialties such as cardiac sciences, oncology, neurosciences, gastro sciences, orthopedics, and renal sciences. These specialties contributed to 64.3% of the gross inpatient revenue for the fiscal year 2025-26.
The company is also investing in advanced medical infrastructure, including robotic surgical systems, linear accelerators, and PET-CT scanners, to support these specialties.
Financially, Manipal Hospitals reported a strong performance for the fiscal year 2025-26 with operational revenues rising by 25.4% to Rs 10,336 crore and an EBITDA of Rs 2,644 crore. The year also saw the successful integration of Sahyadri Hospitals in Maharashtra and Medica Synergie in Eastern India.
Looking ahead, the group plans to add approximately 2,426 licensed beds by 2030, comprising 483 brownfield and 1,943 greenfield beds. As of March 31, 2026, Manipal's network included 49 hospitals with 13,037 licensed beds, serving over 76 lakh patients annually.
