Manipal Health Enterprises Ltd is gearing up for a strategic expansion across several Indian states, including Andhra Pradesh, Keralam, and Delhi-NCR, focusing on integrating artificial intelligence into its healthcare services. The company aims to boost its presence by acquiring facilities and implementing a 'physical plus digital' healthcare model.
Strategic Acquisitions and New Developments
The healthcare giant is actively pursuing acquisition opportunities in Telangana, Keralam, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Additionally, a new greenfield project is underway in Juhu, Mumbai, for which Manipal Hospitals has recently acquired land and building assets. This project, valued at Rs 495 crore, will be a cornerstone of the company's infrastructure expansion.
Furthering its reach, Manipal Hospitals is also evaluating growth opportunities in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa, including the Mumbai-Pune corridor, and in Eastern India, covering West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Sikkim.
AI-Driven Healthcare Initiatives
In a bid to modernize its operations, Manipal Hospitals is leveraging AI technology to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. The company is scaling up a unified Hospital Information System (HIS) that integrates clinical, diagnostic, and administrative workflows. Investments are being made in AI-enabled nursing handovers and wireless patient monitoring systems, which have already been launched in 24 hospitals.
Additionally, Manipal Hospitals is implementing AI-driven call center automation to streamline triage inquiries and appointment scheduling. These innovations are part of a broader strategy to harness technology for improved healthcare delivery.
Focus on Advanced Medical Specialties
The company's clinical strategy is centered around six complex specialties, collectively known as 'CONGO-R': cardiac sciences, oncology, neurosciences, gastro sciences, orthopedics, and renal sciences. These areas account for a significant portion of the hospital's inpatient revenue, emphasizing their importance in the overall business strategy.
To support these specialties, Manipal Hospitals is investing in state-of-the-art medical infrastructure, including robotic surgical systems, linear accelerators, and PET-CT scanners.
In the fiscal year 2025-26, Manipal Health Enterprises reported a 25.4% increase in revenue from operations, reaching Rs 10,336 crore, with an EBITDA of Rs 2,644 crore. This financial growth was bolstered by the successful integration of Sahyadri Hospitals in Maharashtra and Medica Synergie in Eastern India.
Expansion Plans and Future Outlook
Looking ahead, the group plans to add approximately 2,426 licensed beds by 2030, consisting of 483 brownfield and 1,943 greenfield beds. As of March 31, 2026, the network included 49 hospitals with 13,037 licensed beds across 14 states and Union Territories, serving over 76 lakh patients annually.
