The platform's development is backed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Dr. Ashok Sharma highlighted that the BRICS collaboration could strengthen cancer prevention and treatment through evidence-based solutions tailored for resource-constrained settings. The review underscores the significant burden of cancer in BRICS countries, which account for over 40% of the world's population and report approximately 9 million new cancer cases annually.

Technological Advancements and Future Prospects

iOncology.ai is still undergoing pilot-stage clinical validation and implementation evaluation. It is designed to work with curated Indian datasets, including clinical, radiological, and histopathological data, with future plans to incorporate genetic information. The platform is also intended to integrate with electronic health-record systems, contributing to India's expanding digital health infrastructure.

Despite its promising design, iOncology.ai has yet to receive clinical validation. Its diagnostic accuracy and clinical utility remain unestablished in peer-reviewed studies, necessitating multicentre validation before it can be adopted more widely in clinical settings.

The platform's inclusion in the BRICS Health Journal highlights India's commitment to leveraging AI for public health advancements. As the country continues to develop its digital health capabilities, platforms like iOncology.ai could play a critical role in transforming cancer care delivery.
