According to Dr. Sharma, the platform aims to reduce cancer-care disparities across the Global South by providing evidence-based, interoperable solutions tailored to specific regional needs.

Clinical Validation and Future Prospects

Currently, iOncology.ai is in the pilot stage of clinical validation and implementation evaluation. This phase is crucial for assessing the platform’s performance and potential integration into clinical settings. Despite the promising outlook, the platform has yet to undergo peer-reviewed validation to confirm its diagnostic accuracy and clinical utility. Prospective multicenter validation studies are planned to ensure its efficacy before broader clinical adoption.

The review underscores the significant need for improved cancer care solutions in BRICS countries, which account for over 40% of the global population and report approximately 9 million new cancer cases annually. The platform is seen as a potential game-changer in these regions, where access to screening and specialist care often varies widely.

Integration with India’s Health Infrastructure

iOncology.ai is poised to become an integral part of India’s expanding digital health ecosystem, which includes initiatives like population screening, cancer surveillance, and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. The platform utilizes curated Indian clinical, radiological, and histopathological datasets, with plans to incorporate genetic data and collaborate with electronic health record systems.

Through collaborations facilitated by the BRICS Summit, the developers hope to foster advancements in cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment, particularly in resource-constrained settings. The ultimate goal is to empower clinicians and provide more equitable cancer care solutions.
