The platform aims to integrate clinical data to support early cancer detection, risk assessment, treatment planning, and patient data management.

Focus on Emerging Economies

Dr. Ashok Sharma, a key researcher involved with iOncology.ai, emphasized the platform's role in bridging cancer care disparities across the Global South. “Through BRICS collaboration, our focus should be on strengthening cancer prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, and therapy through evidence-based, interoperable solutions tailored to the needs of emerging economies,” he stated.

The BRICS countries, accounting for over 40% of the world's population, face significant challenges with approximately 9 million new cancer cases annually. The review in the BRICS Health Journal highlights disparities in cancer patterns and access to care, underscoring the need for innovative solutions like iOncology.ai.

Ongoing Evaluation and Future Prospects

Currently, iOncology.ai is in the pilot-stage of clinical validation and implementation evaluation. Researchers are assessing its performance and potential utility in clinical settings. Despite its promise, the platform has not yet been clinically validated, and multicenter validation will be necessary before it can be widely adopted.

The platform utilizes curated Indian clinical, radiological, and histopathological datasets, with plans to incorporate genetic data and integrate with electronic health-record systems. This places iOncology.ai within India's broader cancer-control and digital-health infrastructure, including initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.

As the platform continues its development, its inclusion in the BRICS Health Journal highlights the global interest in leveraging artificial intelligence to tackle pressing health challenges in resource-constrained settings.
