Siemens Healthineers acquired AOI as part of its extensive $16.4 billion acquisition of Varian Medical Systems in 2021. The Hyderabad-based cancer-care network, however, has been earmarked as a non-core asset within Siemens' portfolio, prompting the German conglomerate to seek potential buyers.

"Almost 80% of AOI's hospitals are in regions where we do not currently operate," Peddireddy stated, underscoring the geographic advantage of the acquisition.
