AI Summary

Docon Technologies divests nearly 10% of its stake in Thyrocare, raising Rs 986 crore through block and bulk deals.

Docon Technologies, a key promoter of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd, has divested a 9.9% stake in the diagnostics company, generating Rs 986 crore through a series of block and bulk transactions. The sale, executed on Thursday, involved the offloading of 1,57,69,696 equity shares across India's major stock exchanges, the NSE and BSE.

Details of the Transaction

Over 1.31 crore shares were sold via block deals, while an additional 10 lakh shares were traded through bulk deals on the National Stock Exchange. Meanwhile, another 16.01 lakh shares changed hands through a bulk deal on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The shares were sold in a price range of Rs 624 to Rs 631.71 per share, culminating in a total transaction value of Rs 985.86 crore.

Following this transaction, Docon Technologies' stake in Thyrocare has decreased from 60.92% to 51.02%. This move follows a similar transaction in October of the previous year, where Docon sold a 10% stake in Thyrocare for Rs 667 crore.

Investor Participation

The stake sale attracted a diverse group of investors, including institutional investors, insurance companies, and global funds. Notable participants in the transaction included HSBC Mutual Fund, DSP Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, WhiteOak Capital Mutual Fund, and ITI Mutual Fund. Additionally, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company and Tata AIA Life Insurance joined the fray, alongside international entities such as Morgan Stanley, Citigroup Global Markets, HBM Healthcare Investments (Cayman), and the Kuwait Investment Authority.

The market responded positively to the transaction, with Thyrocare Technologies' shares witnessing a rise of nearly 3% to Rs 621.95 on the NSE and over 2% to Rs 622 on the BSE the following day.

Market Implications

Docon's latest divestment of its stake in Thyrocare indicates a strategic reshuffling of its investment portfolio. The significant participation of institutional investors and insurance companies underscores the confidence in Thyrocare's business model and growth prospects in the diagnostics sector.

As Thyrocare continues to expand its footprint in the healthcare diagnostics market, the infusion of capital from such high-profile investors could potentially drive further growth and innovation within the company.
