Docon Technologies Sells 9.9% Stake in Thyrocare for Rs 986 Crore

Docon Technologies divests 9.9% of its stake in Thyrocare Technologies, reducing its holding to 51.02%. The sale, valued at Rs 986 crore, involved multiple institutional buyers.
Docon Technologies, a major promoter of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd, has sold a 9.9% stake in the diagnostics company for Rs 986 crore. The transaction was executed through a series of block and bulk deals on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday, August 14, 2026.
The sale involved a total of 1,57,69,696 equity shares, sold in a price range of Rs 624 to Rs 631.71 per share. This divestment reduces Docon's holding in Thyrocare from 60.92% to 51.02%, marking a significant shift in the ownership structure of the diagnostics chain.
Institutional Investors Lead the Purchase
The stake sale attracted interest from a variety of institutional investors, including several prominent mutual funds and insurance companies. Among the buyers were HSBC Mutual Fund, DSP Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, WhiteOak Capital Mutual Fund, and ITI Mutual Fund. Additionally, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Company and Tata AIA Life Insurance participated in the deals.
Global financial institutions were also active in the purchase. Morgan Stanley, Citigroup Global Markets, HBM Healthcare Investments (Cayman), and the Kuwait Investment Authority acquired shares through block deals on the NSE.
Market Reaction and Historical Context
Following the transaction, Thyrocare Technologies' stock saw a positive response from the market. On Friday, shares rose nearly 3% to Rs 621.95 on the NSE and over 2% to Rs 622 on the BSE. This marks a continued investor interest in the company despite the recent change in its ownership dynamics.
This recent divestment follows a similar move by Docon Technologies in October of the previous year, when it sold a 10% stake in Thyrocare for Rs 667 crore. The consistent stake sales indicate a strategic realignment by Docon in its investment in the diagnostics sector.
The details of other buyers in the bulk deals remain undisclosed as of now, with the specifics yet to be confirmed on both the BSE and NSE platforms.
Thyrocare Technologies, known for its extensive diagnostic services across India, continues to be a significant player in the healthcare industry. The recent transactions reflect ongoing interest and confidence among institutional investors in the company's growth prospects.
