AI Summary

Docon Technologies has divested a 9.9% stake in Thyrocare Technologies, raising Rs 986 crore through various deals.

Docon Technologies, a key promoter of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd, has sold a significant 9.9% stake in the diagnostics company, amounting to Rs 986 crore. The transaction was completed through a series of bulk and block deals on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday.

Details of the Transaction

The sale involved 1,57,69,696 equity shares. Specifically, over 1.31 crore shares were offloaded via block deals, while 10 lakh shares were sold through bulk deals on the NSE. Additionally, 16.01 lakh shares were traded through a bulk deal on the BSE. The shares were priced between Rs 624 and Rs 631.71 each, culminating in a total transaction value of Rs 985.86 crore.

Impact on Docon's Stake

Following this transaction, Docon Technologies' ownership in Thyrocare Technologies has decreased from 60.92% to 51.02%. This move indicates a strategic reshuffling within the company, possibly to realign its investment portfolio or raise capital for other ventures.

Investors and Market Reaction

The stake sale attracted interest from a variety of institutional investors, including HSBC Mutual Fund, DSP Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, WhiteOak Capital Mutual Fund, and ITI Mutual Fund. Insurance companies such as Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance and Tata AIA Life Insurance also participated. Global entities like Morgan Stanley, Citigroup Global Markets, HBM Healthcare Investments (Cayman), and the Kuwait Investment Authority were involved through block deals on the NSE.

In response to the stake sale, Thyrocare Technologies' shares saw a positive uptick, rising nearly 3% to Rs 621.95 on the NSE and over 2% to Rs 622 on the BSE during Friday's trading session.

Background and Previous Sales

This is not the first instance of Docon Technologies reducing its stake in Thyrocare. In October of the previous year, Docon sold a 10% stake for Rs 667 crore. These sales may suggest a broader strategy to monetize holdings in Thyrocare while still maintaining a majority stake.
