Docon Technologies divests 9.9% stake in Thyrocare, raising ₹986 crore through NSE and BSE transactions.

Docon Technologies, a key promoter of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd, has divested a significant portion of its holdings in the diagnostics chain. The company sold 9.9% of its stake for ₹986 crore, executing the sale through a series of bulk and block deals on Thursday across the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Details of the Transaction

The stake sale involved a total of 1,57,69,696 equity shares. Specifically, over 1.31 crore shares were offloaded in block deals, while 10 lakh shares were transacted through bulk deals on the NSE. An additional 16.01 lakh shares were sold via a bulk deal on the BSE. The shares were priced between ₹624 and ₹631.71 each, culminating in a total transaction value of ₹985.86 crore.

This transaction has reduced Docon's ownership in Thyrocare from 60.92% to 51.02%. The sale attracted interest from a range of institutional investors, including mutual funds such as HSBC, DSP, ICICI Prudential, Aditya Birla Sun Life, WhiteOak Capital, and ITI. Insurance companies like Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance and Tata AIA Life Insurance also participated. Global investors such as Morgan Stanley, Citigroup Global Markets, HBM Healthcare Investments, and the Kuwait Investment Authority were involved through block deals on the NSE.

Market Response and Historical Context

Following the announcement of the stake sale, Thyrocare Technologies' shares saw a positive market reaction. On Friday, the stock price increased by nearly 3% to ₹621.95 on the NSE and over 2% to ₹622 on the BSE.

This move comes after Docon Technologies' previous sale of a 10% stake in Thyrocare last October for ₹667 crore, indicating a continued strategy of share divestment within the company. The recent sale aligns with Thyrocare’s ongoing efforts to attract diverse investment and enhance its financial standing.

The participation of numerous institutional and global investors in this transaction reflects the strong market interest and confidence in Thyrocare’s business model and growth prospects. The company’s shares have seen fluctuations in response to these transactions, highlighting the dynamic nature of stakeholder interest in India's diagnostics sector.
