Docon Sells 9.9% Stake in Thyrocare for Rs 986 Crore

Docon Technologies has sold a 9.9% stake in Thyrocare Technologies for Rs 986 crore, reducing its holding to 51.02%.
In a significant move in the diagnostics sector, Docon Technologies, a key promoter of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd, has divested a 9.9% stake in the company. The transaction, completed through multiple bulk and block deals, amounted to Rs 986 crore.
Details of the Transaction
The sale involved 1,57,69,696 equity shares, executed across the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday. Specifically, more than 1.31 crore shares were sold via block deals, while an additional 10 lakh shares were exchanged through bulk deals on the NSE. On the BSE, 16.01 lakh shares were sold through a bulk deal.
The shares were priced between Rs 624 and Rs 631.71 each, bringing the total transaction value to Rs 985.86 crore. This sale reduces Docon's stake in Thyrocare from 60.92% to 51.02%.
Investor Participation
The stake sale attracted diverse institutional and global investors. Participants included major mutual funds such as HSBC MF, DSP MF, ICICI Prudential MF, Aditya Birla Sun Life MF, WhiteOak Capital MF, and ITI MF. Insurance giants like Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance and Tata AIA Life Insurance also invested, along with international entities like Morgan Stanley, Citigroup Global Markets, HBM Healthcare Investments (Cayman), and the sovereign wealth fund Kuwait Investment Authority.
Following the announcement, Thyrocare Technologies' shares saw a positive reaction, rising nearly 3% to Rs 621.95 on the NSE and over 2% to Rs 622 on the BSE.
Market Implications
This recent transaction comes after Docon's previous sale of a 10% stake in Thyrocare for Rs 667 crore in October of the previous year. The ongoing divestment strategy by Docon indicates a shift in the ownership structure, potentially affecting the governance and strategic direction of Thyrocare.
