Aster DM Healthcare plans a ₹1,315 crore investment to expand hospital facilities in Karnataka, enhancing access to advanced medical care.

Aster DM Healthcare is set to bolster Karnataka's healthcare infrastructure with a significant investment of ₹1,315 crore. This initiative aims to expand the capacity and services of its existing operations in the state, where the healthcare provider currently manages four hospitals with a total of 1,329 operational beds.

New Hospital Developments

The expansion plans include the construction of new hospital facilities and the enhancement of existing ones. Specifically, Aster DM will establish a 550-bed hospital in Yeshwantpur and a 460-bed facility in Sarjapur. Additionally, there will be a 350-bed expansion at the Aster CMI Hospital, which is expected to significantly increase access to advanced tertiary and quaternary healthcare services in Bengaluru.

Strategic Meeting with Government

The announcement followed a meeting between Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Quality Care, and Karnataka's Chief Minister, D.K. Shivakumar. Dr. Moopen emphasized the company's commitment to partnering with the state government to enhance healthcare infrastructure, expand access to medical care, and promote medical education and research. He stated that the planned investment underscores their confidence in the state's potential for healthcare development.

Merger and Expansion

This move comes on the heels of a major merger between Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India Limited (QCIL), finalized in early July. The merger has unified four prominent healthcare brands—Aster DM, Care Hospitals, Evercare, and Kimshealth—under a single entity, which now operates 39 hospitals across 28 cities with more than 10,600 beds.

The expansion in Karnataka is part of Aster DM's broader strategy to strengthen its footprint in India, focusing on improving healthcare outcomes and accessibility for the population. The investment is expected to not only increase the number of available beds but also enhance the quality of healthcare services offered in the region.
