Apollo Hospitals Plans Major Expansion with 5,800 New Beds by 2031

Apollo Hospitals has unveiled ambitious plans to expand its capacity by adding over 5,800 beds across its facilities within the next five years. This strategic move comes as the healthcare giant reported a substantial 21% increase in consolidated revenue, reaching ₹7,043 crore for the first quarter ending June 2026.
Expansion Targets Key Locations
The expansion strategy includes a notable addition of 148 beds to existing hospitals in Indore and Guwahati. Furthermore, Apollo intends to establish four new hospitals, contributing a total of 1,200 beds across Indore, Dwarka, the Delhi Proton Centre, and Ranchi. This growth initiative aligns with the company's commitment to meet rising healthcare demands and improve access to specialized care.
Financial Performance Highlights
Apollo’s financial results for Q1 FY27 reflect strong growth, with consolidated EBITDA rising 28% year-on-year to ₹1,092 crore. The consolidated profit after tax stood at ₹581 crore, underscoring robust performance across its operations.
The healthcare services arm of Apollo reported a 22% increase in revenue, amounting to ₹3,567 crore, with EBITDA growth of 20% to ₹862 crore. Profit after tax for this segment rose by 25% to ₹480 crore. Meanwhile, the Apollo Health and Lifestyle Limited (AHLL) segment saw a 15% revenue increase to ₹499 crore, despite a PAT loss of ₹1 crore this quarter, improving from an ₹8 crore loss a year earlier.
Omnichannel Expansion and Digital Growth
Apollo HealthCo, a key vertical focusing on digital healthcare and pharmacy services, recorded a 20% revenue growth to ₹2,977 crore. EBITDA for this segment climbed to ₹171 crore from ₹94 crore in the previous year, with profit after tax rising to ₹101 crore from ₹57 crore. The segment continues to expand its footprint, adding 151 new stores to its network, which now totals 7,440 outlets.
Leadership Vision and Future Outlook
Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, Founder and Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group, emphasized the importance of evolving healthcare models to address the increasing burden of non-communicable diseases. He highlighted the need for a shift from episodic treatment to integrated care encompassing prevention, early diagnosis, and long-term management.
Dr. Reddy stated, "Apollo’s integrated healthcare ecosystem is well-positioned to support this transition, ensuring we continue to uphold the trust that patients and their families place in us."
The company’s current operational capacity includes 8,352 beds, with an occupancy rate of 70%, up from 65% in the same period last year. As Apollo Hospitals moves forward with its expansion plans, it aims to further strengthen its role in providing comprehensive and accessible healthcare services across India.
