AIIMS Workshop Targets Enhanced Education on Cardiometabolic Diseases

AIIMS New Delhi hosts a workshop to strengthen cardiometabolic disease education, engaging experts and policymakers.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi has initiated a concerted effort to enhance the educational framework surrounding cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs) through a comprehensive workshop. The event, organized by the AIIMS Centre of Excellence for the Education of Health Professionals, is part of the Partnership for Education of Health Professionals (PEP) program, headed by Professors Nikhil Tandon and Ambuj Roy.
Gathering of Influential Stakeholders
The workshop convenes a diverse group of stakeholders, including Advisory Committee members, subject-matter experts, and NCD State Nodal Officers. Representatives from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) are also participating, alongside faculty from various academic institutions.
The primary aim is to evaluate insights from the project's formative phase and establish a roadmap for future initiatives. Discussions are set to cover pre-service and in-service education, implementation priorities, training requirements, and potential obstacles to effectively addressing CMDs across India.
Translating Evidence into Action
At the heart of the workshop is the objective to translate evidence and stakeholder experiences into actionable strategies. These strategies are intended to bolster the capacity of health professionals through improved education, thereby enhancing their readiness to manage the increasing burden of cardiometabolic conditions.
Cardiometabolic diseases, encompassing a range of conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases, present a growing public health challenge. Effective education of health professionals is deemed critical in mitigating the impact of these diseases, which are on the rise due to lifestyle changes and an aging population.
Collaborative Approach for Future Preparedness
The collaborative nature of the workshop is designed to harness diverse perspectives, facilitating the co-design of educational approaches tailored to the Indian context. By bringing together a wide array of expertise, AIIMS aims to ensure that the health education system is robust and adaptable to the evolving healthcare landscape.
Through this initiative, AIIMS New Delhi reaffirms its commitment to advancing health education and improving the preparedness of healthcare professionals to tackle cardiometabolic diseases effectively. The outcomes of this workshop are expected to inform future policies and training programs, ensuring a coordinated effort to address these pressing health issues.
