AIIMS Workshop Aims to Enhance Cardiometabolic Health Education

AIIMS New Delhi hosts a workshop to improve education for cardiometabolic diseases, gathering experts to develop strategic approaches.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi recently organized a workshop focused on enhancing health education for cardiometabolic diseases. This event, held under the Partnership for Education of Health Professionals (PEP) program, was led by the Centre of Excellence for the Education of Health Professionals, directed by Prof Nikhil Tandon and Ambuj Roy.
Gathering of Experts and Policymakers
The workshop brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including Advisory Committee members, subject-matter experts, NCD State Nodal Officers, and representatives from both the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC). Faculty from various academic institutions also participated. The primary objective was to review findings from the project's initial phase and strategize for future initiatives.
Focus on Education and Training
Discussions during the workshop centered on improving both pre-service and in-service education for health professionals. Participants explored implementation priorities, identified training needs, and evaluated potential challenges in addressing cardiometabolic diseases, which include conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
The collaborative effort aimed to harness evidence and stakeholder experiences to develop practical approaches. This initiative seeks to bolster capacity building and enhance the education of health professionals, equipping them to better manage the increasing burden of cardiometabolic diseases in India.
Strategic Approaches and Future Plans
Participants in the workshop emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in tackling these complex health issues. By co-designing educational strategies, the workshop aimed to ensure that future healthcare professionals are better prepared to address the growing prevalence of these diseases.
As cardiometabolic diseases continue to pose significant health challenges globally, AIIMS's proactive approach in hosting such workshops highlights the institute's commitment to improving health education and patient outcomes. The strategies developed at this event are expected to influence health education policies and practices across India.
