AIIMS Workshop Aims to Enhance Cardiometabolic Health Education

AIIMS New Delhi hosts a workshop to advance health education for cardiometabolic diseases, uniting experts and policymakers.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi has initiated a pivotal workshop aimed at enhancing health education for cardiometabolic diseases. This event, part of the Partnership for Education of Health Professionals (PEP) programme, is spearheaded by the Centre of Excellence under the leadership of Prof Nikhil Tandon and Ambuj Roy.
The workshop convenes a diverse group of participants, including experts, policymakers, programme leaders, and academic partners. Key attendees include Advisory Committee members, subject-matter experts, NCD State Nodal Officers, and representatives from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC). Faculty from various academic institutions are also actively participating.
Focusing on Education and Implementation
During the workshop, discussions are centered around refining both pre-service and in-service education for health professionals. Participants are evaluating implementation priorities, training requirements, and potential obstacles in the current educational framework. The goal is to gather a wide array of perspectives and collaboratively design strategies to bolster CMD education across India.
These conversations are not only about sharing knowledge but also about translating evidence and stakeholder experiences into actionable plans. The aim is to build capacity and enhance the educational framework for health professionals, thereby improving their readiness to tackle the increasing prevalence of cardiometabolic diseases.
Addressing the Growing Health Challenge
Cardiometabolic diseases, which include conditions such as diabetes and heart disease, are a growing concern in India. The workshop's initiative is timely, as it seeks to address the educational gaps that currently exist in managing these diseases effectively. By strengthening the education of health professionals, AIIMS aims to improve patient outcomes and reduce the burden of these diseases on the healthcare system.
This effort is part of a broader strategy to enhance healthcare education and service delivery across the nation. It reflects AIIMS’s commitment to fostering an environment where health professionals are well-equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the challenges posed by cardiometabolic diseases.
The workshop is expected to result in a series of recommendations and a roadmap for future initiatives. These will be crucial in guiding the development of educational programs that are responsive to the needs of both health professionals and patients facing cardiometabolic issues.
