AIIMS Hosts Workshop to Enhance Cardiometabolic Disease Education

AIIMS New Delhi convenes experts to advance education for cardiometabolic diseases under the PEP program.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi has initiated a comprehensive workshop aimed at strengthening the education of health professionals on cardiometabolic diseases. The event, a part of the Partnership for Education of Health Professionals (PEP) programme, is spearheaded by Prof Nikhil Tandon and Ambuj Roy at the AIIMS Centre of Excellence.
Gathering Diverse Expertise
The workshop brings together a wide array of stakeholders, including experts, policymakers, and academic leaders. Participants include Advisory Committee members, subject-matter experts, NCD State Nodal Officers, and representatives from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC). Faculty from various academic institutions also contribute their insights. Their collective goal is to analyze findings from the project's formative phase and strategize future directions.
Addressing Training Needs and Implementation
The discussions focus on key areas such as pre-service and in-service education, identifying implementation priorities, assessing training needs, and navigating potential challenges. By evaluating these components, the workshop aims to gather diverse perspectives and collaboratively design approaches to improve cardiometabolic disease education across India.
According to AIIMS, the core objective of the workshop is to translate evidence and stakeholder experiences into practical strategies that enhance capacity building and educational outcomes for health professionals. This initiative is crucial in addressing the increasing burden of cardiometabolic diseases, which include conditions like diabetes and heart disease.
Future Directions and Outcomes
The workshop intends to produce actionable insights that can be integrated into health education curricula nationwide. By fostering collaboration among key stakeholders, AIIMS aims to develop a cohesive framework that strengthens the preparedness of health professionals to manage cardiometabolic diseases effectively.
This event marks a significant step in AIIMS's ongoing efforts to enhance health education and improve public health outcomes through strategic partnerships and evidence-based practices.
