AIG Hospitals to Invest Rs 2,000 Crore in New Vizag Facility
AIG Hospitals will invest Rs 2,000 crore to develop a 1,000-bed healthcare campus in Vizag, including a nursing college and AI center.
AIG Hospitals, a part of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, is set to make a significant investment in Visakhapatnam with plans to establish a comprehensive healthcare facility. The Hyderabad-based group will invest Rs 2,000 crore in phases over the next five years to construct a state-of-the-art hospital at Yendada in Vizag.
Foundation Laid for Major Healthcare Expansion
The foundation stone for this ambitious project will be laid by Nara Lokesh, the State Education and IT Minister, on August 31, 2026. The facility will be situated on a nine-acre plot and is designed to accommodate 1,000 beds upon completion. It aims to cater to approximately 5,000 outpatient consultations daily, bringing advanced healthcare services closer to residents of Andhra Pradesh and reducing their need to travel to Hyderabad for specialized treatments.
Phased Development and Comprehensive Services
The development will occur in two phases. The first phase will see the construction of Towers A and B, which will house 650 beds and is expected to be completed by October 2028. The second phase will include Tower C, adding another 350 beds, and is slated for completion within two years thereafter. The facility will offer over 50 medical specialties across eight Centres of Excellence, and will include a dedicated mother-and-child care unit.
Focus on Education and Research
In addition to healthcare services, the campus will feature a nursing college and hostel on 2.5 acres, a paramedical training center, and a 500-seat auditorium for continuing medical education programs. A research laboratory and an artificial intelligence center will also be integrated into the clinical system, highlighting the project's commitment to medical education and innovation.
This development represents a significant step forward for healthcare accessibility in the region. The integration of medical education, training, and research facilities with patient care is expected to enhance the quality and reach of healthcare services in Andhra Pradesh.
Additional Developments in Visakhapatnam
On the same day, Nara Lokesh will also unveil a statue of former Chief Minister Konijeti Rosaiah in Ward 28 of Visakhapatnam. Additionally, he will inaugurate new buildings for the Prema Group of Institutions and the Age Care Foundation near the IIMV campus in Gambheeram.
